Mixing Fingerprint Features for Template Security

چکیده

Most of the authentication systems today don’t just use traditional systems like password or PIN but also rely on biometrics for a better security. Securing the biometric template is thus becoming a major concern in biometrics based systems. Although it is possible to use different biometric traits in combination (multimodal biometrics) to enhance security, it is computationally expensive and time consuming. This paper explores the possibility of combining features from the same biometric trait (fingerprints) i.e keeping it unimodal but still offering the same security as that of the combined biometrics. The algorithm consists of extracting minutiae and orientation features from two different fingerprints and producing a mixed template using these extracted features. The template produced is tested using correlation based matching technique and the correlation co-efficient is calculated. The advantage of creating the mixed template is that it is cancellable and serves as a new virtual identity. Keywords—minutiae, orientation, normalizaiton, spurious minutiae, cross numbering, mixing template, tempalte security,correlation-based matching.

OPTIMIZING ANDENHANCEMENT OF SECURITY OF MULTIMODAL BIOMETRIC SYSTEM– A Research

Cryptography is used for security and authentication of data. Therefore it is used in biometrics system for keeping it safe and away from frauds. When we are using biometrics we ensure that, it is specially used for authentication and verification for the person’s template. This template can be misused if it is stolen by any nonauthenticate person. Focusing on biometric template security is the...

A High Level System of Providing Security to the Fingerprint Template Using Bio-tokens

Fuzzy vault fingerprint Cryptosystem uses pair polar framework. In this framework the number of fake minutiae is added to the genuine minutiae to hide the original features to provide security to the template. The chaff points are placed at a distance to provide a frame work to hide the genuine features of the fingerprint template. The genuine and fake minutiae are distinguished. The implementa...

Fingerprint template protection with minutiae-based bit-string for security and privacy preserving

Recently, biometric security has become the major study to address biometric template security and user privacy. In this research, we focus on minutiae based fingerprint template protection. At the local level, two most prominent ridge characteristics of fingerprint, namely ridge termination and ridge bifurcation are detected to form minutia point (minutiae). In this context, a ridge ending is ...

Fingerprint matching system using Level 3 features

Fingerprint biometric security system identifies the unique property in human being and matching with template stored in database. Fingerprint details are generally defined in three levels i.e. Level 1 (Pattern), Level 2(Minutiae points) and Level 3 (pores and contour ridges). Level 3 features are barely used by automated fingerprint verification system. This research paper presents a Level 3 f...

Feature Distribution of the Fingerprint Template Generated by the Geometric Hashing-Based Fuzzy Vault

Recently, a cryptographic construct, called fuzzy vault, has been proposed for crypto-biometric systems, and some implementations for fingerprint have been reported to protect the stored fingerprint template by hiding the fingerprint features, i.e., adding “chaff” minutiae into the original minutiae set. Also, solutions to the most challenging issue in applying the fuzzy vault to fingerprint(i....
